Celebrate the Takahe Art Competition

Date posted: 08-Apr-2020

Hi Tiri Kids,

It’s Takahē Awareness Month!

Everyone loves our takahē on Tiritiri and it’s definitely a highlight if these amazing birds show themselves when you’re out visiting the Island.

At the moment, with us all living at home in our bubbles, we can’t visit them to celebrate their amazingness. So instead we want you to show us your artistic talents by entering our Celebrate the Takahē Art Competition.

You can paint, draw, collage, sculpt or portray your takahē any way you like. Then scan it or take a photo and email to editor@tiritirimatangi.org.nz. Don’t forget to add your name and age.

Be sure to get your entry in before 30 April. All the best entries will be shown on our Tiritiri Matangi website and the very best will win book vouchers which can be redeemed at our wonderful Island shop when it re-opens. We’ll also publish some of the art in our magazine Dawn Chorus.

Our lovely Rangers Emma and Talia (who are on Tiri sharing their bubble with all the birds including the takahē) will be our judges.

I’m really looking forward to seeing all of your wonderful takahē artworks as I am so missing visiting the real birds.

Have fun.

Eilis
