Your very last chance this season to hear the dawn chorus - a real step back in time.

On Thursday 27th October 360 Discovery will be leaving Gulf Harbour (only) at 4:30am arriving on Tiritiri Matangi in time for you to be in Wattle Valley to hear the dawn chorus. It is truly magical.

The ferry will take you back to Gulf Harbour at 10:45am. Bring a torch, some warm clothes and your breakfast, we will provide the guides, the seats, tea and coffee AND the birds, korimako, tui, toutouwai and, with a little luck, kokako.

And to whet your appetite, here is a description from our trip on October 9th:

It was a quiet walk up in the dark to the middle of Wattle Valley and then a group of 45 sitting patiently waiting to hear what would happen. The birds as if signaled by an unseen conductor came in on cue, the toutouwai first, then the tūī with a myriad of different sounds. A long wait until in the distance we could hear a soft swell of chimes coming down into the valley and then suddenly we were surrounded by korimako, each with their individual 3 or 4 note bell call. It was beautiful. Finally four kokako began their deep, organ notes just beside us. Perfect.
